Hintersteiner See

Information regarding Parking Hintersteiner See at the end of the page.

In an impressive landscape, with a view of the Kaiser Mountains, lies a "Diamond Tirol", the Hintersteiner See. The lake is one of the warmer Tyrolean bathing lakes and can also be reached by car. The Hintersteiner See is a popular swimming lake, which means that on sunny summer days there are often longer waiting times at the lake car park, which is subject to a fee.

If you look at the lake from the parking lot, the left side leads along a footpath along the shore through the forest. On the right side, a paved road leads along the shore to the Restaurant Goingstätthof, at the other end of the lake. This is the sunnier side of the lake. The road is used to access houses and guesthouses in the region, but unfortunately it is open to general traffic. During a walk, numerous cars and motorbikes can be annoying.

If you only come to swim, you will find a beautiful and well-maintained bathing facility right next to the parking lot, with toilet, sunbathing area and restaurant. A complete tour around the lake takes at least one and a half hours, especially because at the Goingstätthof you have to make a longer detour around private property.

Directions: By car to the Wilderkaiser car park directly at the bathing area by the lake. The parking lot is subject to a fee. In summer it can quickly become overcrowded. Although there is a road that runs along the lake, it is not recommended to continue past the parking lot as there are no approved parking spaces (apart from the customer parking lot at Goingstätthof).
Bicycle: Access by e-bike possible (access by regular bicycle is very steep in some places).
Bathing: There is a bathing facility right next to the parking lot.
