In order to build a cool, big snowman, you need enough snow and this requirement is very often the case in the Tyrolean winter.
It is easiest to build a snowman when there is fresh snow, i.e. shortly after snowfall, as the new snow sticks very well and so the effort is less. Here are short instructions for building a snowman.
First, use your hands to form a small snow globe, about the size of a football. Then roll this ball through the snow. As you roll, the snow from the ground sticks to the ball and it gets bigger and bigger. Roll the ball in different directions to make it even and round. Repeat the whole thing twice until you have three balls: a large one for the lower body, a medium one for the upper body and a small one for the head. Now it takes some strength to put the balls on top of each other.
You can use a carrot, a twig, or even snow as a nose. Black stones, nuts or, if necessary, sunglasses are suitable for the eyes. For the arms, branches or, if not available, gloves.
