The castle is strategically located on a hill just above Landeck with a view of the entire area. The original castle was built in the 13th century and changed hands many times until it was bought by the town of Landeck in 1942. Today the castle is the district museum of Landeck.
The view from the top floor over Landeck is particularly worth seeing, but you have to climb many steps to get there. The museum shows the lifestyle of the past, as is common in most well-preserved palaces and castles.
There is also a castle gallery in the castle, in which contemporary works by artists from the region are presented.
