Tratzberg Castle is imposingly situated on a rock in the lower Inn Valley, at the foot of the Karwendel Mountains. It immediately catches the eye of every driver on the highway between Kufstein and Innsbruck.
There was a castle on this site as early as the 13th century, but today's Tratzberg Castle was built in the early 16th century in the style of a Renaissance castle.
Visitors can reach the castle by a small car train or choose to walk. Interior access is exclusively available with a guide, and prior registration is required. Additionally, there is an option for a tour using virtual reality glasses.
At the foot of the castle, right by the parking lot, there is a children's playground and a restaurant with outdoor and indoor tables.
Tratzberg Castle is impressive not only for its architecture, but also for its well-preserved interiors, which provide an insight into the lives of noble families in past centuries. The richly decorated Renaissance halls and the armory are particularly worth seeing. There is a special fairy tale tour for children, which brings the castle closer to you in a playful way. In summer, a picturesque circular hiking trail around the castle attracts visitors with wonderful views of the Inn Valley. Due to its location and the wide range of things to do, Tratzberg Castle is a popular destination for the whole family.
