The Stillup reservoir is a reservoir in the Zillertal. It can be reached from Mayrhofen via a narrow toll road in about 25 minutes by car. Its turquoise water is fed by numerous waterfalls and the Stillupbach stream.
The Stillup reservoir is located at 1,116 m above sea level and is about 2.5 km long. If you arrive by car, you have to park right at the beginning of the reservoir at the Wasserfall inn. From there you can walk along a private road to the end of the valley. If you are traveling by bike or e-bike, you can usually use the private road.
The view from the Gasthaus Wasserfall of the "Stillup Waterfall", also known as the "Coronation", is particularly impressive. The waterfall falls like a veil into the depths on the opposite bank. The Stillup reservoir was built in 1966. It is used to generate energy and to protect against flooding in the Mayrhofen area.
The hike along the Stillup reservoir offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and the numerous waterfalls that plunge into the valley. In summer, the path is very popular with families and nature lovers because it is well-developed and easy to walk. For a rest, we recommend the Gasthof Stillupp, which serves delicious Tyrolean specialties.
