Schrofenstein Castle from above

Schrofenstein Castle dates back to the 13th century and has been mentioned in documents since 1228. In the second half of the 13th century the castle was the seat of the court. Over the centuries it changed hands several times and was also besieged. Today it is privately owned and can only be viewed from the outside. For a ruin it is relatively well preserved. The view over the Inn Valley is particularly impressive.

The hike to Schrofenstein Castle offers not only a historical experience but also a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains and the Inn Valley. The route is particularly popular with hikers and nature lovers in autumn, when the leaves turn brightly coloured. The ruins themselves are surrounded by dense vegetation and offer numerous photo opportunities.
