Rattenberg in Tyrol

Rattenberg, a small medieval town situated on the Inn river in the lower Inn Valley, holds the distinction of being Austria's smallest municipality by area, covering just 0.11 km².

The town sits on the edge of a hill beneath a 10th-century fortress. The small town developed under the protection of this fortress and the Inn river. The historic houses with their colorful facades are very well preserved.

Today Rattenberg is a popular destination for tourists, who can buy handicrafts and souvenirs in numerous shops. The Rattenberger glass are particularly well-known and are manufactured in numerous local companies. That's why Rattenberg is also called the Glass City.
