Rattenberg is a medieval town on the Inn in the lower Inn Valley. With just 0.11 km2, Rattenberg is the smallest municipality in Austria in terms of area.
The town sits on the edge of a hill beneath a 10th-century fortress. The small town developed under the protection of this fortress and the Inn river. The historic houses with their colorful facades are very well preserved.
Today Rattenberg is a popular destination for tourists, who can buy handicrafts and souvenirs in numerous shops. The Rattenberger glasses are particularly well-known and are manufactured in numerous local companies. That's why Rattenberg is also called the Glass City.
Above the city, easily accessible, you can visit the castle ruins in a well-kept park. From here you also have a beautiful view of Rattenberg and the Inn.
