Ice skating on a huge natural lake is an unforgettable experience. Lake Piburger See is secluded and peaceful in the middle of an impressive mountain landscape in the Ötztal in Tyrol. In winter, the popular bathing lake often becomes a fairytale ice rink.
Important: Due to fluctuating temperatures, the lake must be approved by the authorities for ice skating. Access to the ice surface is free and at your own risk. Please observe any barriers and warning signs that may be in place. Opening hours are usually from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The region around the lake is easily reached by car and is located near Oetz, right at the beginning of the Ötztal. A large paid car park above the lake offers plenty of parking. From the car park, it is a 10-minute walk down a steep road to the lake shore. Ice skates can usually be rented on site, at the apartment Piburger See (+436645406771), next to the upper car park. Changing rooms and toilets are located directly on the lake shore.
Ice skating on a frozen lake in the middle of nature is an incomparable experience. The fresh, clear air fills your lungs, the cold makes your face tingle. Surrounded by a quiet, snowy landscape, you glide across the mirror-smooth ice and feel freedom and deep peace.
