Seefeld in Tyrol
Seefeld is a popular holiday resort in Tyrol. Its location on a high plateau at an altitude of 1180 m ensures many sunny days, even in winter when the fog lies over the valleys. In summer, Seefeld is a recreational resort with a natural bathing lake and many hiking opportunities. In winter, Seefeld offers skiing, cross-country skiing and ice skating, among other things. Seefeld is also known for its excellent restaurants and hotels.
Seefeld has a small but elegant village center with numerous shops, restaurants, bars and hotels. Everything is within walking distance: the lake, the indoor swimming pool, the bars, the shops and also a small ski area. Markets are held regularly on the main square. The Christmas market in December is particularly recommended.
In winter Seefeld is particularly popular. The idyllic, often sunny location in the middle of the breathtaking mountains gives Seefeld an extraordinary flair. The Olympia Bad Seefeld (indoor swimming pool) with its sauna world ensures relaxation for parents and fun for children with two slides and a children's area. A cross-country ski trail starts right in the town center. An ice rink and two small toboggan runs (toboggan rental possible) offer fun for young and old. A highlight is of course skiing (see next chapter).
Skiing in Seefeld: Seefeld offers four ski areas in the immediate vicinity. Right in the town center is the Geigenbühllift, a small ski lift for beginners. The Birkenlift is also suitable for beginners. This can be reached in 5 minutes by car from Seefeld or directly via the Geigenbühllift. The actual Seefeld ski area with numerous lifts and slopes is offered by the Rosshütte cable cars, which can be reached from Seefeld in 5 to 10 minutes by bus. It can get very busy here on winter weekends. The Gschwandtkopf ski area is also located in the immediate vicinity of the town center.
General information:
Directions: From the Inntal highway, exit Zirl-Ost, then take Seefelder Straße 177 road to the first Seefeld exit (left side of the road). Access is also possible via Telfs-Ost and (coming from Germany) via Mittenwald. By train: There are regular trains from Innsbruck main station directly to the town centre. You can also travel directly by train from Munich.
Park: There are numerous paid parking spaces in Seefeld.
1) There are several parking spaces to the left and right of the entrance of the village (coming from Innsbruck) directly on Lake Seefeld. From there it is only a few minutes' walk to the town center. When it is busy, this is the best way to find a free parking space.
2) Further along the lake towards the village, just before the pedestrian zone, there is another small car park. However, there are rarely any free spaces here.
3) There is an underground car park at the Olympic swimming pool. From there it is only a few steps to the village.
4) Seefeld Center car park. Another car park with plenty of parking options but high parking fees.
5) The four ski areas mentioned under “Skiing in Seefeld” (with the exception of the Geigenbühl lift) have their own large parking spaces. However, on sunny weekends it can be difficult to find a free parking space.
WC: There is a public toilet at the small parking lot under point 2.
