Information regarding Parking Piburger See at the end of the page.
The lake Piburger See lies lonely and serene in the middle of an impressive mountain landscape in the Ötztal valley. Its water temperatures are above the Tyrolean average, making it a popular bathing lake. Swimming is only permitted in the bathing facility.
The lake is easily reached by car and is located near town Oetz, right at the beginning of the Ötztal. A large paid car park offers ample parking. From the parking lot it is a 10-minute walk down a steep paved road to the lake shore. The bathing facility is then on the opposite bank, a short hike away.
On the way from the car park to the shore, it is worth making a short stop at the Piburger mill, which was in operation until 1914. You can also fill up drinking water here.
One tip is to combine a visit to the lake with a hike. From the parking lot up (instead of down to the lake) there are numerous hiking trails through the forest. When hiking, however, it should be noted that some paths lead close to the canyon from the lake and there is a risk of falling.
