The town of Absam is about 20 minutes by car from Innsbruck. The idyllic place lies on a slope above Hall in Tirol.
On sunny winter days it is a nice area for a walk. Directly above the village are fields through which footpaths lead. It is not uncommon for you to meet old ladies and gentlemen, as there is a popular retirement home in Absam.
Absam is a place of pilgrimage and is on the Way of St. James. The Basilica of St. Michael, also called Marienbasilika Absam, originally dates from the 14th century, but has been rebuilt or rebuilt over time.
