Anyone who spends their winter holidays in Innsbruck with children can sometimes get frustrated that it rains instead of snowing. This is due to a few degrees of temperature above the required temperature for snowing. There is snowfall from around 3\u00b0 Celsius and everything above that is rain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For those traveling by car, here is a great solution for the kids to play a little in the snow: the nearby Gramartboden. Only 20 minutes by car from Innsbruck, it is 3 to 5 degrees colder there than in the city when it rains or snows. Often this small temperature difference is enough to have snowfall instead of rain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Gramartboden is a large meadow with a forest playground. The meadow is slightly sloping, so that children can go sledding a short distance when it snows. If you don't have a sled, you can build a snowman or have a snowball fight. There are a few paid parking spaces, but you can usually find a parking space during the week. On Sundays and public holidays, the road to Gramartboden is closed to cars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After it cools down in the evening, the best time to experience some snow (if it only rains in the city) is around 6pm. Drive carefully when snowing. Paid parking at the Gramartboden car park. Important:<\/strong> On Sundays and public holidays, the road to Gramartboden is closed to cars. Alternatively, you can take the bus to Hungerburg station and walk for 20 minutes on relatively flat ground to Gramartboden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
