The well-known Achensee is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Tyrol in summer. For this reason alone, a visit to Lake Achensee is worth it in winter, when the once lively landscape is shrouded in solitude and silence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The contrast is impressive. The lake is frozen in many places, for example on the Maurach shore. The traditional shipping has been partially suspended, the sailing boats are stowed away and the Achensee recovers in winter from the hustle and bustle of summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Due to the high mountains that surround the lake, there are many shady and cold spots on Lake Achensee in winter. It is therefore worth planning a winter walk in advance. Seen from Maurach, the right bank is the sunny side. It is particularly sunny in the area of the Seehof Chapel Achenkirch near the Achenseehof \/ lighthouse boat dock. Skiing & Leisure: In the cold season, Lake Achensee attracts visitors with two ski areas, which are accessed via the Rofanbahn near Maurach and the Karwendelbahn in Pertisau. The Atoll Achensee indoor pool, which also has an ice skating rink, provides fun and relaxation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Important: Some of the well-known forest car parks are closed in winter. Plus, it can be slippery. Under no circumstances should you enter the partially frozen lake, the ice may collapse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One option is to park at the atoll and walk left down to Lake Achensee on the bike path to the lake shore (approx. 10 minutes). If you need some warmth afterwards, you can relax in the Indoor pool from the atoll<\/a> recover.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
