The crystal-clear Blindsee lake in Tyrol is a real insider tip for swimming, diving, walking, and photography. It lies at over 1,000 meters above sea level and is surrounded by an impressive mountain backdrop. Visitors reach the lake via a toll road (\u20ac15 per car) and can park nearby. It is located on the famous Fernpass road between Nassereith and Reutte. Blindsee is also known for its impressive view of the Zugspitze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Blindsee is a cold lake, but in summer the water at the edges warms up to over 20\u00b0<\/strong>C and allows for fun swimming. The turquoise blue water is particularly impressive, turning into a deep blue at some of the pillars. It is worth taking swimming goggles with you to be able to observe the splendor of the colors underwater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Blindsee can be reached via a short toll road and only has a limited number of parking spaces. An automatic barrier blocks access as soon as there are no more free parking spaces. In summer, there may be longer waiting times. The advantage is that the lake is never crowded and you can enjoy nature in peace even on a sunny Sunday. Most visitors lie down on the pebble beach next to the parking lot. If you want peace and quiet, walk a few minutes further. You need a leisurely hour for the entire circular route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For a great photo of the Blindsee with the Zugspitze, a stop at the \"Rasthaus Zugspitzblick\" is worthwhile. The restaurant is located just before the Blindsee (who drives from Tyrol towards Germany). Even in winter, when the Rastahaus is usually closed, it is worth stopping for a short stop to admire the view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Location:<\/strong> Road Fernpassstra\u00dfe, shortly after the Fernpass (Nassereith towards Reutte)
Toll road:<\/strong> The toll costs \u20ac15 per car (as of May 2026). Hotel guests in the region with a regional card may be exempt (please check with your accommodation). Payment by card is made directly at a machine at the entrance to the toll road.
Parking: <\/strong>About 100 cars can park, after that the toll road remains closed until a car drives out. If you want to be on the safe side, you should arrive early.
Traffic:<\/strong> There is a lot of traffic on the Ausserfernstra\u00dfe on public holidays and weekends. There are often long traffic jams.
Take along:<\/strong> There are no shops at Blindsee, so you have to take food, drinks, sunscreen, etc. with you.
